The latest Chalkboard updates.

Product updates, improvements, and fixes from the Chalkboard app.

ImprovedFixed

Ask Chalk understands Fargo rating changes

  • Ask how many Fargo points you gained over the past month, last month, or another supported date range.
  • Chalk now uses your private rating history instead of returning unrelated session totals.
Improved

A more consistent Chalkboard

  • Tools and secondary pages now share the same compact Chalkboard heading style, typography, spacing, and mobile alignment, without decorative header icons taking space from page titles.
  • Ask Chalk now opens as a full page instead of a half-page overlay, while keeping private account questions and source-backed answers together.
  • Standalone tools keep a compact back control so their main actions remain easy to reach on shorter phone screens.
FixedNewImproved

Updates from October 18, 2026

  • Ask Chalk now understands questions such as “How much money did I win in October?” and combines positive tournament and gambling results for the requested period.
  • Mark the intended tip-contact point on the cue ball for each table-layout shot, including high, low, left, right, and combined English.
  • Layouts with multiple cue balls can now give each cue ball its own contact point instead of silently applying English to the first one.
  • The selected contact points appear as clean solid-red markers without outlines or shadows on the table, saved previews, and exported diagrams.
  • The standalone Hit Indicator now uses a compact, low-scroll layout and can save or share a square PNG of the selected cue-ball contact point.
NewFixed

Ask Chalk

  • Ask Chalk plain-language questions about your session history, including how often you played at a room, the exact dates, and recorded tournament results.
  • Every answer is calculated privately from your Chalkboard data and links back to the sessions used for the result, without a paid AI service.
  • Chalk can also open key areas of the app, prepare a saved session setup for review, or start a selected practice drill after you confirm the action.
  • Generic commands such as “Start coin drill” now open a focused chooser when more than one matching drill exists instead of returning an unsupported response.
  • Ask Chalk now understands game-specific session counts, opponent questions, gambling results, and requests to start a new session, with compact summaries for large histories.
  • Game names now match consistently whether they are typed with a space, hyphen, or no separator, such as 9 ball, 9-ball, or 9ball.
  • Ask Chalk now recognizes more natural date wording, session statuses, saved rooms, opponents, custom games, and additional app destinations.
  • Unclear or unsupported filters now produce a clarification instead of silently returning a broader answer.
  • Questions always remain questions, so wording about drills, saved setups, or starting sessions cannot accidentally launch an action.
  • Tournament results now use recorded prize money minus the entry fee, disclose incomplete records, and link only to sessions included in the total.
  • When several saved setups or drills match, Chalk now lets you choose the intended one before opening it for review.
Improved

A clearer Home

  • Home now keeps your active or next session first, places Weekly Review directly below it, and gives recent sessions more priority than optional tools and pinned resources.
  • The Home review card now uses sessions, notes, and completed practice, and falls back to last week when the current week has no activity.
  • New players get a simple first-session guide, while favorited notes remain bookmarks instead of being treated as a permanent focus.
New

Bankroll and clearer navigation

  • Start with your current pool bankroll, then let completed tournaments, gambling results, and league payouts update it automatically.
  • Keep deposits and withdrawals separate from pool results, exclude any session without deleting it, and keep regular league fees in Stats & Insights instead of counting them against the bankroll.
  • Weekly Review now explains exactly what it contains, and App Settings sits directly below Exports in the More menu.
  • Older tournament, gambling, and league-payout sessions can now be included in your performance history without changing your current bankroll.
New

Your weekly activity in one place

  • Open This Week from Home to review your sessions, notes, drills, captured media, play results, practice activity, rating movement, and saved takeaways.
  • Move between Monday–Sunday weeks, with every session and reflection linked back to its original entry.
Improved

Clearer table previews and Fargo history

  • Saved tables with multiple shots now use the first shot for their thumbnail, keeping the fuller starting layout visible in the Library and table lists.
  • Player Profile now includes an expandable Fargo history with an all-time trend graph, started/current/high/low summaries, and the date, rating, and robustness for every recorded snapshot.
Fixed

More reliable beta access requests

  • The public beta access form no longer depends on a browser security widget that could fail to load for legitimate applicants.
  • Beta requests continue through Chalkboard’s private request service with the same required fields and privacy acknowledgment.
  • After accepting an invitation and choosing a password, new beta players now land on Home with a clear next step instead of signing in a second time.
Improved

Quieter feedback for quick saves

  • Fast saves and page loads no longer flash the spinning Chalkboard mark when they finish almost immediately.
  • If a save or load takes longer than expected, clear progress feedback appears after a short pause while duplicate or conflicting actions remain safely blocked.
  • Repeated Coin Drill and Shot Tracker inputs now stay quiet during normal fast saves, while slow saves and failures still remain visible.
Improved

A clearer guide to today’s Chalkboard

  • Help now follows the current Home, Sessions, Drills, Create, and More navigation instead of older menu paths.
  • Expanded guidance explains Session Presets, Measured Practice, Shot Tracker, private media, table layouts, exports, and the difference between reusable setups and completed favorite sessions.
  • The public walkthrough now uses current app screens and gives new players a clearer path from starting a session to reviewing useful takeaways.
NewImproved

Clearer access, account controls, and session presets

  • Beta access requests now live on the public Chalkboard website instead of inside the signed-in app.
  • The access form now requires only a name and email; questions about pool use, platform, and device are optional, with no testing schedule or session commitment.
  • Privacy Notice, Terms of Use, export, support, and account-deletion controls remain easy to reach without crowding Settings with beta application links.
  • Expanded Help and the public walkthrough to cover current session tools, private media, YouTube timestamps, multiple races, Resume Session, and experimental Recorded Session behavior.
  • Added privacy-conscious activation and reliability monitoring that avoids journal text, opponent names, private media, and other session content.
  • The Android app now uses Chalkboard-only package naming throughout its public application identity.
  • Session Presets is now a complete home for reusable setups, with create, use, edit, duplicate, and delete controls.
  • Using a preset fills in New Session for review without logging or starting anything until you choose to begin.
  • Preset location and opponent fields now use the same saved choices as New Session, including options to add a new location or opponent.
NewImproved

Timestamped footage in session notes

  • The session-note camera control is now Add Media, keeping photos and footage together without adding another permanent toolbar button.
  • Paste a YouTube link with a timestamp—or enter a start and optional end time—to save the exact moment directly in a session note.
  • Upload private footage from your device, preview it in the note, and mark the relevant timestamp range before saving.
  • Uploaded footage now starts with its full range filled in automatically, and the Add Media icon matches the surrounding toolbar controls.
  • Editing a saved note now includes the same table, media, and voice-memo attachment tools available when creating a new note.
Improved

Faster session continuation and richer notes

  • Ended sessions now include Resume Session directly in the All Sessions action menu, so you can continue one without opening it first.
  • Session notes can now include several photos alongside a table layout, with a swipeable preview and individual remove controls before saving.
  • Editing a saved note now keeps the photo and table tools available, so attachments can be added, changed, or removed later.
Improved

More reliable session actions and scoring

  • Exporting a session from All Sessions now shows a brief confirmation with the saved file name and destination, then fades away automatically.
  • Session actions now show clear progress, success, and failure feedback while preventing accidental duplicate taps during archive, restore, delete, export, share, and favorite changes.
  • The Scorekeeper now saves rapid changes in order, briefly confirms when the latest score is saved, keeps failures visible with a Retry action, and waits for unsaved scoring before navigation, race resets, or Session Wrap-Up.
Improved

More ways to add session photos

  • The existing session camera control now lets you either take a new photo or choose an image already on your device, without adding another button to the session page.
  • Photos from either source use the same preview, remove, and note-saving flow.
Improved

Smarter Favorite Sessions

  • Favorite Sessions quietly brings a likely same-day setup to the front while keeping the familiar compact row.
  • Weekday matching stays conservative: an explicit day in the title takes priority, ordinary one-off practice stays neutral, and ambiguous multi-day patterns are not forced onto one day.
  • All Sessions now includes a Day of Week sort that groups sessions beneath Monday-through-Sunday labels, with favorites first and then the newest sessions within each day.
NewImproved

Multiple races and clearer session navigation

  • Session Actions now includes Start New Race, letting you save the current race and begin the next one at 0–0 without ending the session.
  • Completed race scores stay visible in the Scorekeeper while the session total continues to include every race.
  • A just-started race can be undone before scoring begins, so an accidental reset does not lose the previous race.
  • Session Actions now lives in the top-right of individual session pages, replacing the separate labeled button and keeping session-specific controls together.
  • App Settings moved into the bottom-right More menu, while Start New Race moved out of the Scorekeeper and into Session Actions.
New

Fast opponent mentions in session notes

  • Type @ while writing or editing a session note to instantly find opponents already saved in Chalkboard—without waiting on FargoRate or leaving the session.
  • The current session opponent appears first, followed by recently played opponents, while each selected name is linked to the saved opponent for future insights.
  • Opponent mentions stay separate from the primary session opponent, so mentioning a coach or another player never changes match statistics automatically.
Improved

Clearer loading and recording feedback

  • When Chalkboard is genuinely loading your session or app data, it now shows the rotating Chalkboard mark with clear loading text—and disappears immediately when the content is ready.
  • Short operations such as saving a note now use a compact version of the same rotating chalk directly beneath the status text.
  • Recorded Session is now clearly labeled as alpha testing in the Create menu and camera setup so players know recording and shot detection are still being tested.
Improved

Clearer camera permission recovery

  • When Android or Chrome blocks camera access, Recorded Session now explains why the permission prompt cannot reopen and shows exact steps for allowing the camera in app or site settings before trying again.
NewImproved

Updates from September 12, 2026

  • Record a video-first session from the center Create menu, frame the full table, and let Chalkboard find possible shots from visual movement without relying on pool-room audio.
  • Review each possible shot afterward, classify it as good, a problem, or not a shot, choose a pool-specific category, and save a note tied to that timestamp.
  • Long sessions have no fixed time limit: recording is written progressively to device storage, with remaining-space guidance and an original-video backup option.
  • Fargo Change now uses the last rating known at the beginning of the selected range, making 30-, 60-, and 90-day movement more accurate.
  • Tap Fargo Change in Stats & Insights to see the starting and current ratings, high, low, recorded changes, dated history, and a compact trend chart.
  • Chalkboard now performs its conservative once-daily FargoRate freshness check during normal app use, while keeping the Profile Sync Now control available.
ImprovedNew

Updates from September 5, 2026

  • Press and hold the Quick Shot Marks controls to move them up or down and snap them to either side of the screen. The position stays on that device, and shot choices always open inward where they remain visible.
  • Removed the duplicate Enable Shot Tracker action. Session Settings is now the single place to enable or disable Shot Tracker, while Session Actions opens it only when enabled.
  • Expanded Session Wrap-Up with a source-backed summary of notes, photos, table diagrams, voice memos, Quick Shot Marks, Shot Tracker results, completed drills, and session duration.
  • Ending now keeps you on the current session and turns that same summary into a persistent Session Recap—no extra recap screen or second completion step.
  • Final score, tournament or gambling results, and the optional reflection remain editable before ending, while the completed recap stays concise and read-only.
New

Quick Shot Marks prototype

  • Added an optional Quick Shot Marks prototype for recording positive shots and problems from a compact green-and-red control at the right side of an active session.
  • Positive marks cover pocketed balls, good safeties, position, and stroke quality; problem marks cover misses, position and safety errors, fouls, and focused stroke issues.
  • Kept Quick Shot Marks off by default and separate from the existing Shot Tracker, with immediate Undo and no required logging mode—the player decides how often to mark shots.
  • Added live positive, problem, and total counts beside the controls, plus an in-session stats panel with category and stroke-issue breakdowns that update after every mark or undo.
NewImprovedFixed

Safer Quick Start and reusable sessions

  • Fixed league descriptions with a dollar amount being mistaken for Gambling; league and tournament context now keeps participation fees separate from money games.
  • Quick Start now separates trailing fee details from location names and asks you to review any new location before saving it permanently.
  • Added Save as Favorite Session to Session Actions so any logged setup can become a reusable quick selection on New Session, with a clear Saved state when it is already available.
ImprovedFixed

A faster, optional Shot Tracker

  • Made Shot Tracker optional and off by default for new sessions, while preserving every existing session choice and all saved shot history.
  • Kept Shot Tracker discoverable in Session Actions even when it is off: choose Enable Shot Tracker to turn it on for that session and open it immediately.
  • Placed the enabled Shot Tracker in Session Actions instead of mixing it with the table, photo, and voice-memo attachment controls; it still opens in a focused drawer without pushing notes down.
  • Off Stroke now immediately asks what happened—such as Hit Too Hard, Decelerated, Jabbed, or Stood Up—and saves the selected issue with the shot.
  • Added a clear last-shot summary with the saved issue while retaining fast Undo and optional notes or result details.
  • Added a confirmed delete control to completed Shot Tracker history so accidental trackers and all of their saved shots can be removed safely, using a compact × in the card’s top-right corner.
NewFixed

Break Speed and clearer menus

  • Renamed the session feature from Game Tracker to Shot Tracker so its purpose matches the one-shot Good Stroke and Off Stroke workflow.
  • Added a Shot Tracker switch to active Session Settings; turning it off hides the tool without deleting saved shot history.
  • Made the large Final Score card editable while ending a scored session, including direct entry and large increase/decrease controls for wins and losses—even when no score was logged during play.
  • Simplified Stroke Tracker play to two large one-tap choices—Good Stroke or Off Stroke—so recording a rack stays fast.
  • Moved outcomes and execution classifications behind an optional Note or Details action, and added private notes to individual shots as well as the full set.
  • Added a fast Game Tracker to active sessions for logging good strokes, off strokes, made shots, misses, safeties, and execution issues without interrupting play.
  • Added a standalone Stroke Tracker utility with 10-shot, 25-shot, and open-ended sets, undo, notes, stroke-quality summaries, issue trends, and best good-stroke streaks.
  • Kept stroke quality separate from shot outcome so a well-executed miss and a poorly executed make remain useful, honest practice data.
  • Made built-in drill tracking choices safer for new players: select 10-Shot Set or Coin Run first, then use a clearly labeled Start button so exploring an option never starts it accidentally.
  • Built-in drills now let you choose between logging made shots out of the fixed attempts or running the same setup as a live Coin Run.
  • Added a dedicated Drills area so focused practice no longer requires opening or naming a full session.
  • Standalone drill runs now keep results, active practice time, notes, favorites, repeat actions, and resumable Coin Runs together without cluttering Sessions.
  • Promoted Drills to the main navigation and kept Table layouts directly available from More.
  • Blocked duplicate taps and unrelated navigation while sessions, notes, recordings, and session changes are being saved.
  • Added clear full-screen progress feedback for Start Session, Quick Practice, note saves, and other session write actions.
  • Shortened More-menu descriptions and removed clipping so every destination stays readable on narrow phones.
  • Added Tools & Utilities to the More menu with a focused Break Speed calculator as its first tool.
  • Break Speed listens for cue-tip and rack impacts, calculates travel distance from table size and cue-ball position, and lets you review or correct both waveform markers before using the result.
  • Break recordings are analyzed on the device and are not uploaded or saved.
  • Fixed the Home and Session Actions controls appearing over the More and Create menus on session details.
NewImprovedFixed

Updates from August 28, 2026

  • Tightened saved-note spacing and simplified voice memos to one bordered waveform player with a compact adjacent Share and more-actions row, while preserving Chalkboard’s existing text colors.
  • Redesigned saved note and voice-memo controls for mobile: note Edit/Delete now live in the note menu, Share is icon-only, Download/Delete recording live in the audio menu, and the duplicate memo-heading duration was removed.
  • Fixed saved voice memos showing 0:00 in Android playback controls by using the trusted recorded duration in a dedicated Chalkboard player while preserving the original recording.
  • Added private Image resources to Library with device upload or camera capture, optimized thumbnails, full-screen viewing, sharing, pinning, collections, tags, and Practice This support.
  • Image resources are uploaded from your device only—Chalkboard does not accept image URLs—and are stored as private authenticated files with deletion cleanup.
  • Added All Time, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 90 Days, This Year, and Custom date controls to Export Data while keeping the exact dates visible and editable.
  • Added clear validation when a custom export start date comes after its end date.
  • Made Help & Tutorial faster on mobile with guide search, common shortcuts, category filters, denser topic rows, and a more compact visual-tutorial card.
  • Added natural search terms for voice notes, photos, permissions, FargoRate, drills, sessions, and exports so the right guide is easier to find.
  • Replaced the public-facing Roadmap with a built-in Help & Tutorial section covering sessions, notes, voice memos, drills, Library, exports, troubleshooting, and privacy.
  • Added direct help links for microphone and export messages, plus a link to the full visual walkthrough on chalkboardpool.com.
  • Fixed Android voice-memo sharing by creating a messaging-compatible MP3 attachment while preserving the original saved recording and download.
  • Added chalkboardpool.com to shared voice memos, session PDFs, table layouts, and shot sequences so recipients can find Chalkboard.
  • Fixed the Android app permission setup so Chalkboard can display the system microphone prompt and record voice memos.
  • Added Android-specific recovery instructions when microphone access has already been blocked.
  • Added Download and Share actions to every saved voice memo.
  • Complete Sessions exports can now include the original private recordings beside each session PDF, while PDFs identify the matching memo and duration.
  • Added an option to leave recordings out when you need a smaller export ZIP.
  • Fixed a browser security header that prevented Brave and other browsers from displaying the microphone permission prompt.
  • Added clearer recovery guidance when microphone access is blocked, unavailable, or already in use.
ImprovedNewFixed

  • Reduced the mobile note editor to a comfortable middle size so practice drills and session content stay easier to reach.
  • Adjusted the colored microphone artwork to sit visually level with the camera tool while keeping the same tap target.
  • Expanded the new-note writing area on phones so the composer uses the full mobile screen before session entries begin.
  • Made the microphone artwork smaller and matched its color treatment to the table and camera tools.
  • Added a microphone tool beside the table and camera controls so you can capture a short voice memo without leaving an active session.
  • Preview or remove the recording before saving, then play it back privately from the saved session entry.
  • Made the note action more compact by shortening Save Note to Save.
  • Favorite now changes immediately to Favorited after saving a new-session setup, including when you begin from an existing favorite and change its entry fee or another saved preference.
  • Selecting a favorite now restores its saved title so Chalkboard can recognize the setup consistently.
  • Added Stop Shot Control, a ready-to-practice drill with a complete Chalkboard table setup, shot paths, cue-ball finish target, and clear scoring instructions.
  • Built-in drills now appear in your Library and the in-session drill chooser, so you can start practicing without creating a drill first.
  • Start the drill from Library to open a focused practice session, complete 10 attempts, and record how many successful stop shots you made.
  • Added consistent action menus for saved resources, custom drills, and table diagrams without putting destructive controls in the main practice flow.
  • You can now remove saved links and videos, delete reusable custom drills while preserving recorded results, and duplicate or delete saved table layouts directly from Library.
  • Added Progressive Cut Shots, a 10-attempt drill that moves through five cue-ball positions and builds confidence across changing cut angles.
  • Added Long Straight-In Pressure, a 10-attempt stroke drill with a clear pocketing route and cue-ball control target.
New

Your personal practice Library

  • Added a personal Library for keeping trusted pool videos and web resources alongside your existing drills and saved table diagrams.
  • Added search, type filters, collections, tags, pinning, safe YouTube and Vimeo playback, and quick access from the More menu.
  • Pinned resources can appear on Home, and Practice This starts a focused practice session directly from a saved video or link.
  • Kept sessions focused by hiding Library controls when no source is connected and showing only a compact historical reference when practice began from the Library.
  • Fixed YouTube and Vimeo playback, restored YouTube thumbnails, and made video links fill in the title and available description before saving.
NewImproved

Updates from August 24, 2026

  • Added live Coin Runs where a make moves one coin across and a miss moves one coin back, while preserving cumulative makes, attempts, success rate, time, and undoable shot history.
  • Added lightweight result logging for made-out-of-attempt drills such as Mighty X, including optional observations.
  • Added reusable drills through a complete New Drill flow for name, instructions, a newly created or saved Chalkboard table setup, and Coin Run or Log Result tracking.
  • Removed the table artwork’s redundant outer baked frame, kept its native 3:2 composition, and turned Coin Run into a compact full-height mobile sheet so the complete tracker and controls fit without scrolling.
  • Fixed the top-left profile picture lifecycle so it never flashes the default Player image while a custom avatar loads, preserves the last-known avatar through transient refresh failures, and ignores stale auth responses.
  • Made Game optional for Practice sessions: game-less sessions are saved as General Practice with a true null game, while Match and competitive session types still require a game.
  • Locked the page behind the More and Create sheets, contained touch scrolling inside the open sheet, and restored the exact background position after every close or navigation path.
  • Saved drill attempts as structured session results, preserved unfinished Coin Runs for later resumption, made ended-session results read-only, and included completed attempts in session PDFs.
  • Made the Settings cog a toggle: tap it again in Settings to return to the exact page you were viewing.
  • Added a focused End Session sheet for optional reflections and final details, while keeping meaningful records visible after a session ends and hiding empty 0–0 records.
  • Gave ended tournaments a clearer result card for placement and prize money, positioned before Afterthoughts, with a quieter read-only Entries notice.
  • Added Quick Practice to Home for starting an empty practice session immediately, while keeping the global Create menu neutral for every kind of player.
NewImproved

  • Moved the existing Table and Camera tools beside Save Note and added per-session scorekeeper controls in Session Settings.
  • Corrected the Track score toggle thumb so its on and off positions stay aligned within the switch.
  • Simplified page headers by removing duplicate title pills, standardizing breadcrumbs, and clarifying Session Actions.

FixedImproved

  • Android releases now use a permanent signing identity, so future updates can install under the same trusted app.
Fixed

Smoother table creation and refresh

  • Fixed New Table Layout from the plus menu so it opens reliably even when you are already on Table Library.
  • Tightened pull-to-refresh so the bottom navigation bar stays pinned instead of getting dragged downward on list pages.
  • Canceling a New Table Layout from the global plus menu now returns you to the page you came from instead of dumping you into Table Library.
ImprovedFixed

Updates from July 8, 2026

  • Added relevant icons to the Saved Tables, Session Tables, and Drills cards.
  • Moved the selected Table Library section into the main page title, removed the duplicate section heading/description, and made pull-to-refresh the refresh action.
  • Updated Table Library to match the Sessions page structure with three large cards for Saved Tables, Session Tables, and Drills.
  • Added search, shot-count filtering, and sorting so table layouts are easier to find as the library grows.
  • Gave the current-session tools row a little more room, made the table and camera buttons easier to tap, and gave the scorekeeper more width and visual weight.
  • Removed the extra New Table Layout button from Table Library now that table creation lives in the main plus menu.
  • Changed the Session Notes tab count to use the full table-note total instead of only the latest loaded preview list.
  • Fixed page scrolling after closing the table editor, so normal app pages scroll again after using New Table Layout.
  • New table layouts opened inside a session now use the same full-screen table editor treatment as the standalone flow, so the table has more room while still closing like an overlay.
  • Matched the New Session and New Table Layout option text sizing to the More menu row typography.
  • Removed the large Create heading from the plus-button menu so the two choices start higher and feel cleaner.
  • Closed the extra gap between the bottom drawers and the bottom navigation bar.
ImprovedFixed

Updates from July 7, 2026

  • New Table Layout now opens as a full-screen overlay that covers the app header and bottom bar for more usable table space.
  • The Ball Mode helper text stays visible so users can understand how to place balls on the table.
  • The overlay keeps the proven compact table editor feel while still allowing scrolling when lower controls need to be reached.
  • Tightened the New Table Layout page so the editor starts much higher and the table gets more room on large phones.
  • Removed the extra Table Library shortcut and explanatory paragraph from the top of the creator page.
  • Restored vertical page scrolling in Ball mode so lower table controls can be reached without fighting the table canvas.
  • New Table Layout now opens as its own full Chalkboard page instead of feeling like a lightbox over the library.
  • The standalone table creator still uses the same shared editor as session notes, keeping table tools consistent while protecting the in-session workflow.
  • Table Library now sends new layouts to the dedicated creator, while existing saved tables can still be opened from the library.
  • Changed the center plus button into a clean create action without the New Session label, making the bottom bar feel more even.
  • Tapping plus now opens a Create sheet with large New Session and New Table Layout options instead of immediately starting a session.
  • New Table Layout opens the standalone table editor directly, so shot and drill layouts can start from the same create action.
ImprovedFixed

Updates from July 5, 2026

  • Changed the Sessions summary cards to Active, Ended, and Favorites so completed sessions no longer appear under a confusing Open Sessions heading.
  • Moved Archived into the Filter menu for old, duplicate, test, or irrelevant sessions while keeping normal ended sessions in regular history, search, stats, and review.
  • Tightened the bottom navigation sizing so the new center action is less oversized while still staying clear of page content.
  • Updated the bottom navigation to match the cleaner mockup: Home highlights by itself, the center action is labeled New Session under the blue plus button, and the inactive tabs are quieter.
  • Added bottom-navigation safe space across Settings, Report a Bug, Stats, Favorites, Table, Profile, All Sessions, current sessions, and the support pages so lower buttons and fields no longer disappear behind the bar.
Improved

Cleaner header settings access

  • Changed the top-right header button into a Settings shortcut, keeping Start as the single main new-session action in the bottom nav.
  • Removed Settings from the More drawer so the menu stays focused on the broader app destinations.
  • Polished All Sessions with sleeker filter cards, aligned search/filter/sort controls, thinner session cards, smaller metadata text, note-count pills, and simpler Open / More actions.
  • Tightened the All Sessions cards again by moving the favorite star beside the note count, shrinking Filter and Sort to give Search more room, removing the mood emoji, and hiding extra format details that usually belong in the title now.
  • On phones, pressing the system Back button from a session now returns to the page you opened it from instead of closing the app.
  • Reduced All Sessions text sizing across the page and put the favorite star back in the top-right, aligned with the session title.
  • Made the More drawer handle swipeable so dragging it downward closes the menu, tightened the drawer down against the bottom bar, and added native Android back-button handling so Back closes More first or returns to the previous Chalkboard page instead of exiting the app.
  • Strengthened the Android system Back button again so it uses Chalkboard’s own in-app navigation stack, falls back to All Sessions when history is unclear, and never closes the app from normal app screens.
  • Made Android Back feel more native on All Sessions: tap once to see “Press back again to exit,” then tap again right away to leave the app.
  • Added a clearer colored border and subtle glow around the selected Open, Archived, or Favorites session filter card.
  • Refreshed the current session page with a modern Session Details card, compact table/photo tools, updated scorekeeper, cleaner Quick Note composer, and sleeker entry cards to match the rest of Chalkboard.
  • Tuned the refreshed current session page back down for better mobile density so the cards, controls, and entries no longer feel oversized.
  • Cleaned up the current session header controls, restored the collapse control, made the keyword hint readable on mobile, and made Back close the table editor overlay before leaving the session.
  • Simplified the current session note area, matched the table/camera and favorite controls, tightened note spacing, and hides the bottom nav while the keyboard is open so notes have more room.
  • Retuned the current session controls so table/camera are easier to tap, scorekeeping is slimmer, top actions are smaller, and saved note text sits better below the note star.
  • Balanced the Tools and Scorekeeper row, restored the Tools label, and fixed the session action menu so it stays above the page content.
  • Fixed New Session titles so using Fill it in or tapping a Favorite Session returns to the live generated title, and changing details like game type, format, opponent, or location updates the title again.

A clearer player profile and progress view

  • Player Profile can now connect to FargoRate more naturally: search by name, pick the right player when names overlap, auto-refresh stale ratings once a day when you open Profile, and still gives you a small Sync Now backup when you want to check immediately.
  • The New Session Start and Favorite actions now stay above the bottom navigation, so they remain easy to reach after you fill in a setup.
  • Profile pictures are now cleaner and more flexible: the avatar stays circular in the top bar and on Player Profile, the picker opens only when you tap your picture, Player/Chalk/Shark/Cues use cache-busted borderless artwork without the gray fill, built-in choices update live without closing the picker, and custom uploads can be positioned before saving.
  • Added APA 8-ball and 9-ball skill levels so your profile can reflect both league systems you care about.
  • Favorite Room now fills itself from where you write the most notes, giving your profile a little more personality without extra setup.
  • Stats & Insights now shows Fargo and APA movement for the date range you choose, making it easier to see whether your game is trending up, holding steady, or slipping.
NewImproved

Updates from June 28, 2026

  • Moved the main menu into a sticky bottom navigation with Home, Sessions, Start, Table, and More.
  • Added a Profile entry point and first profile page for future Fargo, APA, and personal stat fields.
  • Updated All Sessions with open, archived, and this-month filter cards plus an even search, filter, and sort row.
  • Changed the More drawer links to Stats & Insights, Presets, Favorites, Exports, Settings, Updates & Roadmap, Report a Bug, and About Chalkboard.
  • Added an obvious close button and scroll limit to the More drawer so it no longer feels like it traps the whole screen.
  • Moved the bottom Start label inside the blue circle and tightened the All Sessions top cards/search row so Archived and This Month stay readable.
  • Kept the bottom nav visible beneath the More sheet instead of letting the drawer cover the navigation bar.
  • Simplified the More sheet to a dash-only handle, made the More tab toggle it closed, and removed Profile & Stats/About Chalkboard from that menu.
  • Made the More drawer handle close the sheet, split What’s New and Roadmap into separate menu links, and moved the scroll-to-top button above the bottom nav.
  • Changed the third All Sessions filter card from This Month to Favorites and tightened the header/logo/session-title sizing.
  • After ending a session and saving afterthoughts, Chalkboard now returns to All Sessions instead of leaving you on the closed session.
  • Added End Session and Delete Session to the All Sessions three-dot menu, with End Session opening the afterthoughts flow automatically.
  • Added Delete Session to the session detail three-dot menu as the bottom destructive action.
Improved

Aim Line and color selector polish

  • Adjusted Aim Line coaching guides so the ghost ball is smaller and the tangent guide starts from the ghost-ball center instead of the edge.
  • Replaced the always-visible drawing color swatches with a compact palette button that opens preset colors without widening the tool row.
  • Added subtle separators between drawing option groups so color, line width, and line style are easier to scan.
  • Added Keep Aim and Clear controls so Aim Line previews can be saved with a shot, exported, and erased later.
  • Fixed Aim Line Adjust so the displayed cut angle changes one degree at a time instead of jumping by larger amounts.
  • Fixed kept Aim Lines so keeping a new guide replaces the prior saved guide, Clear removes saved Aim Lines after reopening, and moving/replacing the cue ball resets the Aim Line.
ImprovedFixed

Android icon padding and menu polish

  • Added safer padding to the Android launcher and maskable app icons so the full chalk piece stays visible inside rounded icon masks.
  • Cleaned up the app menu with clearer labels and ordering: Table Library, Favorites, Stats & Insights, Export Data, What’s New, Roadmap, and Report a Bug.
  • Renamed the menu link for starred takeaways from Notes to Favorites so it no longer sounds like the place to create notes.
  • Added temporary crosshair placement guides in the table editor while dragging or positioning balls, made them easier to see, then hides them after placement so saved diagrams stay clean.
  • Changed the table editor finish control to CB Finish / Move Finish and made the cue-ball finish marker look like a translucent cue ball instead of relying on text.
  • Changed mobile table sharing to share PNG image files directly instead of a ZIP/file URL path, so texting apps can appear in the Android share sheet.
  • Made Save Table the clear primary action, moved Export/Share/Delete Shot into More, and expanded CB Finish to Cue Ball Finish when there is room.
  • Refined the table editor footer: smaller cue-ball finish marker, mode icons in the title, Next Shot wording, Shot 1/Shot 2 thumbnail labels, and a subtler green Save Table action.
  • Improved table editor clarity with white title icons, stable two-line helper text, shot-strip info help, direct dragging for placed cue-ball finish markers, and a less selected-looking Save Table button.
  • Extended Undo to cover shot sequence changes like Next Shot, Delete Shot, and shot reordering, and fixed the shot counter so 10 / 10 stays on one line.
  • Added an Unsaved changes cue in the table editor, tightened helper/information text, renamed the shot strip to Shot Sequence, and added a compact from finish hint for Next Shot.
  • Added temporary coaching guides for cue-ball-to-object-ball shot lines: ghost ball, contact point, tangent line, and angle pill while drawing or selecting the line.
  • Restored regular Line Mode and moved the ghost-ball/contact/tangent/angle guides into a separate Aim Line option that starts from the cue ball and updates live as you drag.
  • Changed the table editor top controls to a horizontal tool row with the selected tool options below it, giving Draw Line / Aim Line and the ball tray more room.
  • Adjusted Aim Line so the object-ball path projects outward from the hit side instead of drawing a guide through the object ball.
  • Removed the extra Aim Line endpoint marker and stops the temporary cue-ball aim guide at the hit point once it finds an object ball, so it no longer suggests the cue ball keeps traveling through the shot.
  • Changed Aim Line tangent guides to show only the cue-ball travel side of the tangent and removed the extra center-to-contact guide line.
  • Fixed the Notes hero breadcrumb spacing so the All Sessions back link and Favorite Notes label no longer crowd each other on mobile.
NewImprovedFixed

Table overlay, exports, and page polish

  • Added a standalone Roadmap page so future Chalkboard direction lives separately from the shipped-update history on What’s New.
  • Added Roadmap to the app menu and bug-report area list.
  • Renamed the standalone table area into a Table Library with tabs for Saved Tables, Session Notes, and Drills.
  • Session table notes now appear automatically in the Table Library with the table preview, note text, session context, Open Session, and Save as Table actions.
  • Added Drills coming-soon template cards so the future pre-created practice library has a clear home.
  • Describe a Session now fills tournament entry fees from phrases like “$45 entry” or “45 entry,” and fills league fees from phrases like “$15 league fee” or “dues 20.”
  • Aligned Table Overlay, Favorite Notes, Settings, and Bug Report around the same mobile-first page width and dark card/header visual system.
  • Changed What’s New so multiple updates from the same date are combined into one entry instead of creating a separate card for every small update.
  • Kept the full export progress timeline on the Export page, but changed table overlay export/share feedback to a small fading toast so it does not take up layout space.
  • Removed the download-started success message from session-list and open-session exports; errors still show when something fails.
  • Large exports now continue loading beyond the first 1,000 records so all-notes PDFs can include the full selected scope.
  • Export page now shows a clear Preparing → Creating → Saving/Downloading → Done progress timeline.
  • Full-session ZIP and notes PDF exports now save to Documents/Chalkboard in the mobile app instead of relying on browser download behavior.
  • Made the fixed Add Shot button narrower while keeping shot thumbnails the same size, and reduced the SHOTS header/counter text size.
  • Shot thumbnails now refresh after the table canvas finishes drawing so the first thumbnail should not capture a blank/black canvas on initial open.
  • Tightened the table overlay bottom controls after the reference pass so the shot cards, fixed Add Shot card, action row, and Save/Export/Share/Cancel buttons stay compact while preserving the below-table-only scope.
  • Fixed standalone Table Overlay sharing so prepared table images do not depend on browser fetching of data URLs, which could fail on some devices.
  • Added a standalone Table Overlay page in the app menu so table layouts can be opened without starting or editing a session.
  • Kept the standalone page on the same shared table editor used inside session notes, so future table tools can be added once and show up in both places.
  • Added the first saved-table layout library for standalone diagrams while leaving existing session table-note saving unchanged.
  • Updated New Session quick-entry parsing so chip tournament entries like “Playing 9 ball chip tournament $40 entry at Goodtimez” fill the tournament format, entry fee, location, and game type correctly.
  • Kept tournament entry fees from being mistaken for gambling stakes, so tournament setup stays in the right session type.
  • Changed the Quick Start box into a wrapping auto-growing text area so longer session descriptions are easier to type on mobile, while Enter still fills it in and Shift+Enter can add a new line.
NewImprovedFixed

Multi-shot table layouts and clearer app versioning

  • Added multi-shot table layouts so a runout can be saved as Shot 1, Shot 2, Shot 3, and more instead of cramming the whole plan onto one table.
  • Added a shot filmstrip inside the table editor with a Next Shot action that duplicates the current layout so the next step can be edited manually.
  • Added an optional CB Finish marker in the Shot Sequence area so the next shot can start with the cue ball already moved to the planned leave, and made that marker removable with the eraser tool.
  • Updated saved session entries so multi-shot table layouts preview like a swipeable image gallery, showing one table at a time with counters like 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3.
  • Updated export and share so multi-shot table layouts include every shot image instead of only the currently visible table.
  • Added hold-and-drag shot reordering with a trash drop zone for deleting shots, and made Next Shot start with a clean drawing layer instead of carrying old paths forward.
  • Fixed shot drag-and-drop so releasing over the trash removes the shot and renumbers the row, and prevented thumbnail drags from scrolling the shot strip sideways.
  • Restored shot-strip horizontal scrolling before long-press drag starts, so the Next Shot button remains reachable when the sequence gets wider than the screen.
  • Stabilized shot-strip gestures by handling horizontal scrolling inside the editor, so dragging a shot across the row does not get cancelled mid-move.
  • Made Shot Sequence easier to use with visible drag grips, a fallback Delete Shot button, and a persistent + Next Shot action that does not require scrolling to the end of the strip.
  • Added an app version label in the menu so it is easier to confirm which Chalkboard build is currently loaded.
  • Fixed Android table export/share support by registering the native Filesystem and Share plugins in the Android shell.
  • Fixed chip tournament quick-entry parsing so phrases like “10 ball chip tournament with a $40 buy-in” are treated as tournaments instead of gambling.
  • Improved longer note entry by letting the open-session note box wrap and grow more comfortably as you type.
NewImproved

Favorite session setups for faster starts

  • Added manual Favorite Setups on New Session so recurring tournaments, leagues, practice formats, rooms, and money details can be reused even when they are not recent.
  • Made favorite setup cards tap-to-fill instead of tap-to-start, so details can still be reviewed before creating the session.
  • Added a clear Favorited state and toggle behavior so saved setups can be unfavorited without creating duplicates.
  • Polished favorite setup controls and card sizing so the saved setup area stays predictable on mobile.
NewImprovedFixed

Android app foundation and smarter gambling setup

  • Added the first Android app shell foundation for Chalkboard, using the same web app core so normal product updates can flow into the app without rebuilding the native shell every time.
  • Added app-ready metadata, install icons, Android launcher assets, and setup docs so Chalkboard has a cleaner path toward Android first and iOS later.
  • Expanded New Session quick-entry parsing so phrases like “Playing 9-ball verse Ghost race to seven at Goodtimez” can fill game type, opponent, race length, and location more reliably.
  • Made quick entry more forgiving of common pool-room wording and typos like vs, v, versus, verse, verses, against, playin, and number words such as seven.
  • Added Playing For support on gambling sessions so quick entries like “race to 5 for $20” save the stake amount for future money tracking.
  • Updated Stats money wording from Prize Money to Money Out and included positive gambling results there, so future gambling sessions count correctly alongside tournament payouts.
  • Tightened Quick Start Enter-key handling so typing a setup and pressing Enter fills the form instead of accidentally moving through the wrong flow.
ImprovedFixed

Private alpha access and reliability polish

  • Kept Chalkboard invite-only while making the access path clearer for invited users.
  • Made Bug Report and What’s New available even before sign-in, with room to include the page or area where a problem happened.
  • Added a friendly session-unavailable state instead of leaving bad or stale session links stuck on loading.
  • Updated export defaults so full-session exports include all sessions unless you choose Active only or Archived only.
  • Improved app security, reliability, and account data boundaries.
New

Favorite notes inside a session

  • Added a star control on session notes so important takeaways can be marked without editing the note.
  • Added Favorite Notes to the menu so starred takeaways from every session can be reviewed in one place.
  • Highlighted favorited notes in the session timeline with a warmer border and star label so they are easier to spot later.
Improved

Quick Start understands casual games better

  • Treats plain-language entries like “playing 9-ball with Mike” as Free Play instead of Match Play unless you mention a set, race, match, competition, or tournament.
  • Keeps opponent names attached to Free Play quick-start sessions and titles them naturally with “with” instead of “vs.”
ImprovedFixed

Quick-start details now carry forward more reliably

  • Saved new locations and opponents from quick-start entries into Settings automatically, so they are easier to pick again next time.
  • Linked newly saved quick-start locations and opponents to the session being created instead of only showing them in the current form.
  • Made secondary pages like Export and What’s New feel more consistent with the newer Chalkboard page style.
  • Fixed the Export page header so the Sessions breadcrumb sits clearly above the Chalkboard Export title instead of crowding the same line.
  • Cleaned up game-type labels so older saved values show up more consistently across sessions, stats, and exports.
ImprovedFixed

  • Added a clear-filter action and a showing-count helper so filtered analytics are easier to understand.

  • Made the New Session flow easier to finish by keeping Start Session visible once you reach the title review area, while leaving it disabled until the required details are complete.
  • Clarified that Location is optional, so you can start a session with the key details without being forced to pick or create a room.
  • Added a Fine-tune this session prompt after quick-fill and recent-session setup so optional Session Details, Awareness, and Focus controls are easier to discover without feeling required.
  • Refreshed the lower Session Details area into compact tap-to-edit rows that adapt to the selected session type instead of showing every possible field at once.
  • Stabilized mobile scrolling and spacing so the quick-start area, generated title, details, awareness, and focus sections feel more natural on phone browsers.
  • Unified the New Session color system with reusable Chalkboard theme tokens, cleaner form controls, and a warmer Start Session CTA that stands out from regular blue detail controls.

  • Updated the Quick Start example to better show how plain-language setup works.
NewImprovedFixed

Smarter New Session quick start and cleaner detail flow

  • Refreshed the New Session quick-start area with the new image-backed design, tighter spacing, shorter copy, and a smaller Fill it in action.
  • Updated quick-entry behavior so Fill it in builds the session details from plain language, then scrolls directly to the generated session title for review.
  • Improved the sentence-style detail editor with clearer selectable pills for session type, game type, match play, gambling, practice, location, and date.
  • Kept the date pill display-only while the real date picker below controls the selected date, so Today and custom dates stay in sync without interrupting the sentence flow.

  • Fixed the New Session header action so it uses the same close button behavior as the current New Session screen.

  • Added a lightweight one-time hint for the auto-tag behavior, with a direct link to Settings so tag setup stays discoverable without cluttering the composer.

  • Aligned the smart alternate flow more closely with the current session data model, including canonical session types and subtype details for league, tournament, match play, gambling, and coaching.
